Life is a journey!  Enjoy it!

Glacial Hills Elementary is a great place to learn, grow, and teach!  Here is my version of who I am and how I came to be the fourth grade teacher at GHES.
I grew up on a beef farm three miles northeast of Benson, MN.  I always wanted to be a teacher because I loved to learn.  In 2004 I graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA, with a degree in Elementary Education. (I also earned coaching and reading endorsements).  In 2004 I married Sam Poegel.  We lived in Brainerd where I substitute taught at the local elementary school and taught at Sylvan Learning for about two years.  In March of 2006 our first child, Thomas, was born.  The following summer we decided to move back to Benson.  During the 2006-2007 school year I was a Basic Skills teacher and a volleyball coach at Benson High.  The following spring I was excited to hear that Starbuck was opening a charter school.  I applied, was offered the job, and accepted the fourth grade position.  The summer after my first year of teaching at GHES we had our second child, Emma.  Emma will be attending preschool at Rainbows and Rhymes which is located in the same building as GHES.  Thomas will be a kindergartner this year! What a joy it will be to see my kids throughout the day! I am so honored and blessed to be part of the GHES family!
